Valentine's Day card

Today I made a [Valentine's Day card] with "washi" masking today.

Every Valentine's Day, I make a card with a lot of love for my husband. <3

My son kept asking me who this card is for, but I didn't tell him it's for daddy
because I know that he can't keep it a sectet to my husband until Valentine's Day.
He'll be saying, "Daddy, mommy and I made a card for you today" as soon as my husband
comes home. Haha.

On the front, I made a big heart-shape with different colors and patterns of Japanese masking tape.

The key to do this easily is that you make a heart-shaped frame first, and then fill inside part.

Inside the card, I used masking tape and wrote "HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY."

You can use this trick for "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" or "Congratulations!" or whatever you'd like.

Have a happy Valentine's Day.

I made this [lovely flower card] for my friend the other day. She is a warm, cute, soft person. So I thought this card would suit her.

The base color is pale green.
For cute accent, I used some bright colors like blue, light blue, and brighter green with white polka-dot evenlly on the card, but not overused.

Because of "washi" masking tape's transparecy, the parts that one color is on another color made some different shaded colors.

I think that this is another one of the attractive points about "washi" masking tape. A regular solid color paper tape can't do that.

As usual, I didin't use my scissors to cut masking tapes this time. I ripped these tapes and that made the borders of tapes uneven, rough finish just like teared paper's border. And that made this card look very warm, soft look. Not just because of big orange flower. I love this warm, soft touch is one of my favorite points about Japanese washi(rice paper) masking tape.

I can't wait for the spring.

Little bit of everything. How to store Japanese masking tape.

Collecting Japanese washi masking tepe is sort of like an addiction.
There are so many kinds of patterns and designs of masking tape out there
and I would love to get them all!
I feel happy just by looking at my cute tapes lined up all nicely in my tape box. =)

To store Japanese washi masking tape,
you want to avoid humidity and dust.
So I put my masking tapes in a assorted cookie can box.
Because of my husband's job, we get a lot of chocolate
and cookies around Christmas time. So I get to keep those cookie can boxes often.

Anyway, to avoid the humidity, the trick I use is a desiccant.
You just put couple of those in the can, under the tapes,
and keep the lid closed.
This way, you can keep your masking tapes dry and clean.

In my opinion, a dry masking tape is easier to handle and has a nice feeling when you rip it with hands.

Today's trick is [a little bit of everything].

As I talked about how I like collecting Japanese washi masking tapes,
I have a lot of tapes.
Some are similar colors amd some have the same patterns but in different colors.
So, I decided to use a little bit of everything that its colors are red-ish.

See how many kinds of masking tapes are used?

As usual, these little pieces are cut by my fingers, not scissors.

Prepare bunch of blue-ish color Japanese washi masking tape.
Some colorful polka dot pieces for accent is cute.

One of my favorite parts about masking tape is that you can easily tear the tape.
No scissors is needed. How wonderful is that!
Masking tape is the Savior for a lazy crafter like me. Haha.

Another attractive thing about tearing masking tape is that each strip shapes differently.
You can see this natural look of washi paper that has been teared by hands.

Now that I think about it, I've never used scissors for masking tape actually...
